Today I got a phone call at work from a lady named Lianne. Earlier in the day I returned a call for a Lianne but she wasn't in so I assumed it was her calling me back. IJW took on a network support contract for an organization and one of my many duties is to be this network support guy people call when they have problems or need new accounts. So anyway, Lianne is apologizing for not calling back earlier. She said the office keeps giving out her cell phone number instead of her office number and she didn't get her cell phone back (from something) until today. She tells me her office number and as I'm writing it down I realized that it was an Orillia number. I was supprised and asked if she was in Orillia. (most of the organization's offices are spread out around the province and there is one in Orillia). She said yes... so I asked if she's in Caroline's office. She said no, kind of wondering what I'm talking about? Then I realized that I might be mistaken about who I'm talking to. I asked if she works for the organization and she said: "No...?? I'm with Royal Bank!".
OMG I felt like a fool. We laughed for a minute then got back to business. She was calling to tell me how much money the bank has pre-approved me for a mortgage. I've got a large enough downpayment including legal fees, and can pay my car off in 2 months. My plan since Aug 2003 was to buy in Aug 2004. Back then I thought you buy and move in right away. Now I know you buy and wait a couple months before you move in. So now over the next 2-3 months I'm in serious looking mode. Hopefully in 2-3 months I will have found a place and have bought it. I'm getting lots of advice from my family about what to look for, which is great since they've got lots of experience buying and selling houses.
