A few weeks before my previous tenants moved out they told me that while they are sleeping at night, they are sometimes woken up by the sound of feet slowly dragging across the kitchen floor. It usually starts near the bathroom area and stops where the carpet starts in the living room. Sometimes it comes right into the bedroom beside the bed.

I thought they were trying to scare me.. They were successful but I didn't want to believe it... so I didn't.

Lately a few weird things have been happening. The apartment has been vacant for several weeks now. Lately I've been checking out the furnace (accessed via apartment) and had a guy come quote on installing central AC. A few days ago I went down to check something and the bedroom door was closed. That door is never closed. I made note of it and continued about my business.

Two nights ago I went outside into my backyard to get my dog Bandit when I noticed the bedroom was glowing. I looked in the window and the bedside lamp was turned on. It's the kind of lamp that turns on when you touch it. Filled with fear, I found the courage to go into the apartment and turn the lamp off.

Last night I was in my back yard again, and to my horror the bedroom was glowing again. This time, the room light was on, not the bedside lamp. Again I found the courage to go downstairs and turn the light off. Every time I go in there I get the feeling that I'm not alone, so I keep saying "Please leave us alone".

One part of me says that I know I have a bad memory and likely closed the door and forgot, turned the bedside lamp on and forgot, and turned the room lamp on and forgot. This is entirely possible. Maybe when I turned off the bedside lamp and left the room I forgot to turn off the room light.. then discovered it the next day. The other part of me is scared. I live in a house alone with my dog.
