My BBS was revived in Oct 2003 and is still up. I've been moving it from computer to computer because they're all crap. The last one ran the BBS alright, but whenever there was a power spike (which happens a lot here), it doesn't come back on automatically. I checked the BIOS for this setting and it doesn't exist. This means the BBS is down for days sometimes, and once and a while my FidoNet feed gets cut off because my BBS isn't responding.
I've got this computer called DREAM_MACHINE which I bought in 1999. Back then computers were still expensive and I put the best of everything in there. It was $5000 CAN. Even today it's usably fast with XP and many people using it don't know how old it is. I've always thought it would be such a waste to make that computer the BBS computer because it's too good and I could use it as a second computer for myself or guests. Well, it NEVER gets used. Last night I decided to swap computers for the BBS and holy cow.. huge speed difference, and it comes back to life when the power goes out and comes back.
