This past week my little 12" colour VGA monitor for my servers died. I'm going to replace it with a newer 14" or 15" SVGA monitor shortly. I was checking out the labels on the back to find out how old it is and was shocked: it was made in 1988, 17 years old!! I've never seen such an old monitor that still worked reasonably well. I've seen 6 year old monitors ready for the graveyard. It was an IBM.
Local computer stores say that 17" is the smallest size made nowadays and if I want something smaller I have to buy used, or LCD screen. Marco brought up an interesting point... what about the retail cash machines? They seem to run Windows and have tiny little screens. I didn't see any on ebay but I'm not willing to spend any more than $50 max on a used monitor for the servers anyway. I can pick one up in Barrie for $25 bucks if I want.
