The BBS Documentary

Jason Scott who spent the last 3 years interviewing over 200 people and making a documentary, has a cottage just north of Orillia. Well technically it's his wife's, parent's friend's cottage but anyway. They were on their way up to the cottage and stopped by to hang out for a few hours and show us some clips from the documentary. It's practically done. I believe the video editing is finished and now they just have to normalize some of the audio to make sure everyone is heard at the same volume. My friends Dean and Marco were over and got to see it as well. There are about 5 different documentaries covering different aspects of the BBS world which adds up to 7 hours so we just got a small taste. From what we saw it looks very good. It starts out at the very beginning with the creation of the BBS and has clips of many people describing what BBS's were to them. It didn't show you any screenshots, it just described in detail what a BBS was used for. I can't wait to show my family this documentary because then they will finally understand what I was doing on the computer for all those years :)

Imagine the Internet completely died over the next 2 years and barely anyone ever used it. Imagine the Internet was replaced by some new 3D VR goggle system like in the movies that was so much better and cooler than the net. Then, the next generation of kids grow up using this new thing and have no clue what the Internet was. They think it's stupid and useless and don't understand why you still keep talking about it. That's what BBS's are like now. It basically was the Internet for us, then it got replaced in the mid 90's and nobody even knows what a BBS is anymore. They don't know their history. This documentary will be in libraries and colleges/universities all over the US. BBS's were are big part of computer history. I'm pretty excited because there are about 7 clips of me on it.
