Over the years I have traditionally re-made my website once a year with a new layout and more up to date techniques. The last two versions of this site have worked out so well for me that they lasted 2 years each. This current website does almost everything I want and I could keep using it for years but... it uses old HTML. I learned HTML in 1994-1995 and haven't really updated my HTML skills since. I've been doing a bunch of reading lately on XHTML and CSS techniques. I'm going to do a redesign with many more neat features.. plus the programming will be done using Java servlets. My goal is to become a strong web application developer for work. I'm not sure how slick the GUI will look since I'm not an artist but it will be valid XHTML and "accessible" :)
Update (Feb 21) : I've come up with a new template and designed the look of the journal. It is -sharp-!! Completely different look and feel from this website. It looks much more modern and professional. Next step is to design every screen of the whole site before I do the programming. This can be a long process because I want to get it looking perfect.
