Went to the dump this morning

Last night I spent a few hours going through my "games" room which is actually a huge junk room and started to organize what needs to be thrown out. A month or two ago I had done the same and took two pickup truck loads to the dump. It seems like I barely made a dent in it because the place was still full with paths cleared to walk to the washer, tools and electrical areas. A large portion of the clutter left over from last time was my computer junk. I've been collecting computer parts since I was 13 or so and over the years it has proven to be a very useful collection. When I need something, I probably already have it. However, half of the stuff was so dated it was time to let go. I filled my car to the ceiling with pre-PCI stuff that goes back to the 286 and 386 days. I also threw out two 10 year old SGI's that were missing parts, a dvd player that didn't work, cd changer that didn't work, IJW's first fax machine (pulse only, no tone dial!), 2 monitors (forgot to take a 3rd from upstairs), two garbage bags filled to the brim of computer cards, motherboards, drives, cables etc.. that were too old (like 100mb ide drives, a dozen floppy drives, 16x cdrom drives etc). It feels weird.. that is 10 years of collecting I left behind me at the dump. Oh well, that was only half of my collection :) The other half is late 90's or newer, and stuff that works.

I'm trying to clear and organize that room in the basement so my grandpa and I can finish it. I found a projector screen I forgot I had and will build that into my plans. I also have VGA projector which isn't that great for computers anymore (only 640x480) but is great for TV. Before I had my 52" tv, I used the projector for a year or two. I had it projecting the equivalent of 63" tv at dad's house. I'm going to call my 52" HDTV the little TV and the projector in the basement my big TV.
