I wasn't sure if I'd ever like having a widescreen computer display. I thought I'd rather have a larger screen in inches than a 17" wide screen because I could get higher resolution out of it and therefore more screen space. I bought this laptop with a widescreen partly to see what widescreen is all about.
Now that I've worked with it, I must say I love it! Specifically, I use this laptop for programming. I open my IDE (Netbeans 5.5) and maximize it. My code window is in the center taking up the same amount of space I'm used to, and I have panels of information and tools on the left and right sides of the screen. On a normal screen I might sacrifice some of my code window to get more stuff on the left and right. I think it's great for programming and if you use things like Macromedia Flash which also has a zillion things on all side of the screen.
